As a photographer drawn to the streets, the city of Lviv is a place of constant inspiration. Around every corner of its historic center, people from all walks of life intersect, creating moments that reveal the beating heart of the city.
In Rynok Square, Lviv's vast market square, villagers arrive to sell handcrafted wares, as residents catch up over coffee. The hardships of recent times seem far away amid the renewal and social rituals playing out. Outside the grand Opera House, elegant onlookers are frozen in time against a backdrop of Austrian-era grandeur.
Down winding lanes, everyday life and surprises wait to be discovered. Through open archways, you glimpse courtyards bursting with children's play or garden oases. A flash of embroidered fabric marks a shy bride heading to her wedding at an iconic church. Elderly men raise bottles of local beer in an unmarked bar harkening to Soviet days.
As twilight falls, Lviv sparkles to light and life. Couples stroll through lamps casting a dreamy glow, as students and families flock to the cafes and restaurants animating the night. In moments of laughter and whispers, solitude and cheer, Lviv reveals its resilient, romantic heart. As a photographer and wanderer, it's capturing these moments of life and light that lets me share the beauty and wonder of Lviv with the world.
